Curtains leave enough length at the front for the hair to separate and frame the face. The result can be soft and casual or more deliberately styled.
You don’t necessarily need a perfectly centered part. Your natural growth pattern may suit a slightly off-center version better.
Curtains and middle parts are one of our specialties at Broken Arrow in Orem.
Short answer
Curtains are a men’s haircut with enough length at the front to split and fall to either side of the face, usually from a middle or slightly off-center part. At Broken Arrow Barbershop in Orem, we specialize in curtains and recommend the Signature Haircut so there’s time to find your natural part and shape the front with scissors.
01
Finding your part
The part should follow how your hair already wants to fall. We look at your crown, cowlicks and growth pattern at the front before deciding where it goes.
A part that fights your growth pattern won’t stay put. One that follows it falls into place on its own.
Your hair already has a part. We find it.

How we cut curtains
- Length at the frontEnough to split and fall past the eyebrows or cheekbones.
- Weight removedScissor work so the two sides fall softly instead of sitting heavy.
- Connected sidesBlended into the sides so it grows out as one shape.
- Your choice of sidesKept longer for a softer look, or tapered for a cleaner finish.
03
Soft and casual, or styled
For a casual look, towel-dry, add a little cream and let it air-dry with your fingers. For a more deliberate look, blow-dry each side away from the part and finish with a light matte product.
